The Austin Mini Cooper 'S', here shown in green with a white roof, is a British motoring icon that
revolutionised small car design and performance. It was created by John Cooper who took the already nimble Mini to new
heights as the Cooper 'S' with enhanced power and handling, making it a formidable
competitor both on the streets and on the racetrack. The 1.3-litre
four-cylinder engine in the Cooper S produced 76bhp, an
impressive figure for a small car allowing it to compete well above
its weight class in motorsport.
Despite its compact size, the Cooper 'S' gained worldwide fame after
winning the Monte Carlo Rally three times in the 1960s, which solidified its
reputation as a giant-killer. The combination of front-wheel drive,
compact dimensions, and precise steering made it a joy to drive on
twisty roads, while its racing pedigree ensured it would become a
