Ford's RS200 (1985) shown here in iconic blue and white Ford Motorsport livery, was
built for one purpose: to conquer Group B rallying, the wildest and most
dangerous era of rally competition. The RS200 was powered by a
mid-mounted 1.8-litre turbocharged engine producing around 450 bhp in
its most extreme form. Combined with its all-wheel-drive system, the
RS200 had incredible acceleration and could launch from 0 to 60mph in
under 4 seconds even on gravel and snow-covered rally stages.
With aggressive bodywork, wide stance, and Shell and Pirelli
sponsorship logos, this RS200 looks every bit the part of a rally
weapon. The car's handling and power made it highly competitive, but the
cancellation of Group B in 1986 due to safety concerns limited its
potential. Nevertheless, the RS200 remains a cult favourite, and
examples like this one with UK reg plate B200 AYD are highly sought after by
collectors and enthusiasts alike.
