The Jaguar C-Type (1951), painted here in iconic British Racing Green, is
one of the most revered sports cars of its era, combining sleek
aerodynamics with raw racing power. Designed for racing,
the C-Type was based on the mechanicals of the XK120 but featured a
lighter, more aerodynamic body. Powered by a 3.4-litre inline-six
engine it produced around 200bhp, giving it impressive
speeds on the track. The C-Type's lightweight construction and disc
brakes were pioneering at the time, giving it a significant advantage
over its competitors.
The C-Type's crowning achievement came at the 24 Hours of Le Mans which it won in both 1951 and 1953. The curvaceous bodywork,
low-slung stance and unmistakable green livery epitomised Jaguar's
dominance in endurance racing. The C-Type laid the groundwork for the
legendary D-Type, cementing Jaguar's outstanding place in motorsport history.
