The Maserati Bora introduced in 1971 was Maserati's first mid-engine production supercar. With its smooth, bodywork and
powerful performance, the Bora blended Italian style perfectly with
advanced engineering. Powered by a 4.7-litre V8 engine producing 310bhp,
the Bora was capable of hitting 170mph, making it one of the fastest
cars of its day.
The design, courtesy of Giorgetto Giugiaro, featured
sleek angular lines and a distinctive wedge shape capturing the bold
futuristic trends of the early '70s. The Bora's handling was equally
impressive, with four wheel independent suspension and an engine layout that
ensured quick, responsive performance. Its luxurious interior further
solidified its status as a grand tourer combining comfort and
performance in a way only Maserati could. The Bora remains a classic,
admired for its striking looks and its contribution to Maserati's
illustrious heritage.
